The Beginning and the End

Book which showcases a typographic interpretation of the novel The Beginning and the End by Najib Mahfouz. The novel is about a family who lives in an impoverished neighborhood in Egypt. The characters face dark events and realities that challenge their family bonds and moral integrity. Their choices either escalate their vulnerability or their brutality.

 

Book designed as a student project within the Bachelor program at the American University of Beirut.

Since the Orange Tree

Autofiction in prose that relates my process of creation. It expands on two layers; the first narrative gives a voice to a still consciousness contemplating its room. Buried voices emerge from objects scattered in its surroundings. The second layer explores these voices.

 

Book created and written as part of the DNSEP thesis at HEAR. It is not commercially distributed but is available for consultation at the Manufacture des Tabacs library.

It has been presented in several exhibitions, including Les À‑Côtés, Bibliothèque Parasite at the Médiathèque André Malraux, during the HEAR-Here and Now graduation weekend at HEAR, and in the exhibition Toucher, Écouter, Habiter at Maison Rose.
